Introduction to the Cohort
The University of Washington Alzheimer Disease Patient Registry (ADPR) is based in the large health maintenance organization, Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound (GHC). The ADPR is a clinical and epidemiological database for dementia and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). It was established in late 1986 by a grant from the National Institute on Aging, and has enrolled cases of dementia and AD since January 1987. Enrollment was completed in March 1996, and epidemiological and genetic studies based on the ADPR are ongoing.
